How to play 17–0 Football
Start with Classic: spin for a franchise and decade, choose a player from that pool, and fill your seven spots. The goal is a score of at least 650 out of 700. You can play without an account.
Your first draft, step by step
- Choose Classic. Tap the spin control to draw a franchise and decade.
- Compare player seasons. The pool shows names, positions, years and season statistics. You are choosing that season, not the player’s whole career.
- Lock an open spot. Tap Draft at QB, RB, WR, TE or FLEX. A locked pick stays in your lineup.
- Continue to the next draw. Repeat until all seven spots are full. You cannot draft the same player twice, even from a different season.
- Calculate your record. The result reveals impact scores, the total and your team’s record.
FLEX accepts a running back, wide receiver or tight end. A quarterback can only fill QB. Classic gives you one reroll for the entire draft; use it before locking the player from that draw. In the updated iPhone app, finish an optional rewarded ad to unlock this reroll. Closing the ad early leaves your draw and reroll unchanged.
Sign in before starting a new Classic draft if you want it ranked and saved online. Guest games are for practice and do not award saved Gold or leaderboard entries.
How draft impact becomes your record
Draft impact runs from 35 to 100 and is calculated from the selected season’s statistics. It is separate from My Team card OVR. Stats remain the main factor. The game’s established offensive legend list receives a four-point boost only when statistical impact reaches 75, capped at 100. Weak legend seasons receive no boost.
| Statistic | Contribution |
|---|---|
| Passing yards | 0.04 per yard |
| Passing touchdowns | 4 each |
| Interceptions | −2 each |
| Rushing + receiving yards | 0.1 per yard |
| Rushing + receiving touchdowns | 6 each |
| Receptions | 1 each |
The production total is compared with a position benchmark: QB 460, RB 480, WR 440 and TE 330. Base impact is 35 + 65 × production ÷ benchmark, rounded and capped between 35 and 100. Strong seasons above 75 base impact receive a production bonus of up to seven for skill positions, or up to three for quarterbacks. Quarterback bonuses rise at 0.2 points per base point above 75; skill-position bonuses rise at 0.4. Bonuses are rounded, and final impact is capped at 100.
For RB, WR and TE, a season with at least 2,000 scrimmage yards and 20 touchdowns has a minimum impact of 98; at least 1,700 yards and 17 touchdowns has a minimum of 92. These milestones use rushing plus receiving totals. Additional production floors recognize high-yardage seasons: 2,200 scrimmage yards and 10 TD earn at least 94; 2,000 and 10 earn at least 90; 1,700 and 14 earn at least 88; 1,700 and 12 earn at least 85; 1,500 and 12 earn at least 83; and 1,300 and 10 earn at least 80. Running backs with 2,000 rushing yards and at least 10 total TD earn at least 98. Quarterback seasons with at least 4,800 passing yards, 45 passing TD and no more than 15 interceptions earn at least 98; at least 4,500 yards, 40 TD and no more than 12 interceptions earn at least 95. The strongest applicable floor is used.
Emmitt Smith
2,148 scrimmage yards × 0.1 + 25 TD × 6 + 62 receptions = 426.8 production. His final draft impact is 100. This example shows the calculation; impact remains hidden while you draft in Classic.
Classic adds your seven impacts. For example, 98 + 94 + 92 + 93 + 91 + 90 + 95 = 653, which earns a projected 17–0 record. This is a scoring game, not a simulation of 17 live football matches.
| Total score | Record |
|---|---|
| 600–624 | 15–2 |
| 625–649 | 16–1 |
| 650–700 | 17–0 |
Below 650, every full 25-point step down lowers the win total by one, with a minimum of zero wins. Draft Room, Football IQ and vs AI use their own record projection, which considers both average impact and the weakest pick; do not apply Classic’s 650 threshold to those modes.
Three decisions that improve a draft
- Protect a scarce position. If a draw has a strong tight end and you still need TE, drafting another wide receiver at FLEX can leave you with fewer ways to finish.
- Compare production, not fame. A quarterback’s passing yards are only part of the picture. Touchdowns, interceptions and rushing production also matter. Backs can gain considerable value from receiving yards and catches.
- Save FLEX and the reroll with a purpose. FLEX gives you flexibility late in the draft. A reroll can help when the current pool poorly fits your remaining slots, but you get only one.
The draw introduces chance; your skill is in comparing seasons and managing open positions. A famous player’s low-production year can be a worse choice than a less familiar player’s breakout season.
Choose the mode that fits
| Mode | What changes |
|---|---|
| Classic | One draw per round, visible statistics and one reroll. Impact stays hidden until the result. |
| Draft Room | Three franchise-and-decade options each round. Choose one pool. |
| Football IQ | Season statistics are hidden. Use player names, positions, years and your memory. |
| vs AI | A computer rival drafts too. Compare completed rosters and records. |
| Weekly Draft | Everyone receives the same seven draws. One official attempt per account each week. |
Read the daily riddle clues
Roster Riddle Daily gives you one offensive player and seven guesses. Type a name, select the player in the search results, then tap Guess. Each guess produces clues for team, division, position, jersey number, age and height.
Yellow means within five jersey numbers, two years of age or two inches of height. For Team, yellow means the same division; for Division, the same conference; for Position, a related position. An up arrow means the answer’s number, age or height is higher than your guess; a down arrow means lower.
For example, if a jersey-number clue shows 12 with an up arrow, look for a number above 12. If Position is green for WR, keep guessing wide receivers. Combine the clues instead of repeating a player who already conflicts with them.
The daily puzzle resets at midnight in your saved timezone. Players on the same calendar date share an answer. Account play saves your attempt and streak. Guest play lets you try the puzzle without saving account statistics. The regular offense and defense riddles are separate practice modes.
Play today’s riddle →Collect cards and build My Team
Sign in and open My Team from the Home Play screen. Packs contain one player card each. Collect offensive and defensive cards, use them in your lineup, and keep them after the weekly challenge ends. Repeated cards become exchange points according to their rarity.
Your lineup has 14 spots: QB, RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, TE, FLEX, EDGE1, EDGE2, DL, LB, CB1, CB2 and S. The weekly challenge uses 400 credits. All spots must be filled in valid positions and the total cost must fit the cap before submission.
| Component | How it works |
|---|---|
| Base | Add the OVR of all selected cards. |
| Value | +4 for each card rated 74 or below. |
| Chemistry | +4 for each pair from the same team, up to 24 total. |
| Spotlight | For cards at this week’s featured position: +2 per full five OVR above 60. |
Example: an 80 OVR card in the spotlight earns eight spotlight points. Two cards from the same team form one pair and earn four chemistry points. Three cards form three pairs and earn 12. Higher OVR cards cost more credits, so the best lineup is a balance of quality, bonuses and affordability.
The shop offers three personalized guaranteed player cards each day, plus random rarity packs and cosmetics. Shop prices use earned Gold; lineup cost uses credits. They are different resources. Daily player offers refresh at midnight Eastern.
Open My Team →Compete on shared draws
Weekly Draft: practice as a guest or sign in for your one official attempt and a place on the leaderboard. It resets every Monday at midnight Eastern. Its leaderboard is separate from the weekly My Team lineup leaderboard.
Friends: add a player by username, accept requests, and invite them to a draft or My Team contest. Friend drafts give both players the same seven draws. Picks and scores stay private until both finish. The invitation and draft must be completed within ten minutes of creation.
Guild Wars: the leader polls members in Chat and selects the war roster. Guilds with 20+ members field exactly 20 players; guilds with 10–19 field exactly 10. Guilds below 10 need to recruit. Only selected players can draft, and matchmaking pairs equal 10-player or 20-player squads. A war runs for three days, with three battles each day. Each battle gives an eligible member three shared drafts; their three scores add together. A 500, 600 and 650 draft gives 1,750 points for that battle. Completing each set of three drafts earns one player pack. Win the war with at least three completed drafts on the locked roster to earn an extra Rare-or-better pack, 150 Gold and 10 Guild Tokens. Guild War Honor builds permanent crest ranks from Bronze to Obsidian, while qualifying personal victories unlock medals. Members joining after the war roster locks wait for the next war.
